LEE : Negro Medal of Honor men (fülszöveg)

THIS IS the stirring account of the personal lives and the heroic actions under fire of all the Negro Medal of Honor winners in the American wars, with especial emphasis on the Civil War, the Indian battles, the Spanish-American War, the World Wars, Korea and Vietnam. The book opens with a detailed account of the various awards and medals in the several services, beginning with the Purple Heart instituted by George Washington and centering in the Congressional Medal of Honor, the most highly regarded of all.

Sergeant Lee then tells the story of each man who has won the Medal of Honor, his home surroundings and similar details where available, and then describes the heroic action for which the medal was awarded. This action is often set within the larger frame of the particular engagement in which it occurred.

Typical of the heroic acts described in the book is the account of Private First Class Milton L. Olive III who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his sacrifice in Vietnam.
