The 6th OSEAS-Europe Regional Conference for Overseas Educational Advisers in Western, Eastern, and Central Europe and the New Independent States

August 5-10, 1998, Budapest, Hungary

OSEAS-Europe Conference Grants Announcement

The OSEAS-Europe Conference Planning Committee and USIA are pleased to announce the availability of conference grants for participating educational advisers from Western, Central, and Eastern Europe and the NIS.

Approximately 30 "fully-funded" and 120 "local expenses" grants will be offered to participating educational advisers. A "fully-funded grant" will cover international travel costs, including any standard visa fees, airport transfers and transit costs, conference registration fee, workshop registration fee(s), local accommodations (double occupancy) and per diem for the duration of the conference. A "local expenses grant" will cover local accommodations during the conference, per diem and transfer to/from the airport or train station in Budapest. The OSEAS-Europe Conference Planning Committee and USIA strongly encourage cost-sharing which will improve an adviser's chance of receiving a grant.

The OSEAS-Europe Conference is adviser generated: it is being organized by overseas advisers for overseas advisers. Advisers applying for a conference grant are encouraged to submit a proposal for a conference session or workshop. Please refer to the "Call for Conference Proposals" distributed February 13 on Inter-L, OSEAS-Europe and EAC-L listserves. Advisers applying for a grant and not planning to take part in a conference workshop or session as a presenter must be willing to carry out a volunteer task at the conference in order to be eligible for receiving a grant (refer to number 10 in "Grant Application Form").
