The session took place on Sunday, July 2 in Computer Resource Room. This session was intended more as a practical demonstration of all resources available for the advisors.
The computer room was divided into three areas, where one group of people could learn to send e-mail, another to try The Peterson's Gradline on CD-ROM and the third could use the Netscape program to explore different WWW sites.
The advantages of participating on OSEAS mailing list were discussed -talking with colleagues and getting quick responses.
That Peterson's Gradline is an effective time-saving tool as compared to the six- volume printed Peterson's guide was obvious to everyone.
We were able to try out Gopher as a group of information for OSEAS advisors.
Lycos Search, available through Netscape, was introduced as an invaluable tool for searching different WWW sites by keywords.
All the participants seemed rather excited about the possibility of trying all the resources in an excellent technological setting, when fast online Internet access was available.
Practical advice and guidance was given by highly-qualified computer
specialists - Craig Rice, Cristian Nicolae and Martyn Miller.
