INTER-L Monthly Reminder

Greetings, INTER-L'ers,

This is the monthly INTER-L reminder note. Please read and save the latest version for future reference.

POSTING TO INTER-L
As an INTER-L subscriber, you can post a message to INTER-L by sending it to:

INTER-L@VTVM1.CC.VT.EDU

Please be sure to use "topic" (or "topics) in the subject line of your message in order for your posting to be distributed to the people you want to reach. INTER-L topic(s) must immediately be followed by a ":" (colon) with a space before your choice of subject. If you are sending to more than one topic, separate them with a comma (e.g., "ADSEC,CAFSS: ").

Please remember that not all INTER-L subscribers have the ability to view attachments or virtual signatures (.vcf) files. It is best not to enclose attachments in postings to INTER-L, but if you do, please also include a text-only version of the attachment. Thanks!

INTER-L topics include:

ADSEC: for questions about international admissions, accreditation, transfer of credit, recruitment, etc.
ATESL: for questions about students in intensive English programs. CAFSS: For questions about international students and scholars in the USA (including GRAC/visa/INS issues)
COMSEC: for questions about community programs and community volunteers
OSEAS: for questions about overseas educational advising and students coming *to* the USA
SECUSSA: for questions about study, work, volunteering, etc. abroad - especially for USA students. ** Over 1,500 study abroad professionals are on a listserv called SECUSS-L, and 90% of them are *not* subscribed to INTER-L.
ALL: for questions intended for _all_ INTER-L subscribers. Please use the "ALL:" topic *only* if your posting truly applies to all sections of INTER-L (most do not...)

The following are examples of well-formed subject lines:

CAFSS: IAP-66 Question
ADSEC: Alvan Ikoku College of Education - Owerri, Nigeria ADSEC,CAFSS: Summary of scholarships for PRC undergrads OSEAS: Africa: Need info on Durban Conference
SECUSSA: Seeking Program in Outer Mongolia

CONFIRMING YOUR SUBSCRIPTION

Approximately once every six months, your subscription to the INTER-L list is due for renewal. This is a standard (and automated) procedure on INTER-L to help us clean out invalid addresses. When you receive the notice, please read it carefully and do the following:

Send an e-mail message to: LISTSERV@VTVM1.CC.VT.EDU
Leave the subject line blank In the body of the message, write: CONFIRM INTER-L
Do not append/attach a signature file
Send the e-mail

Do this as soon as possible after receiving your renewal notice. If you do not send the above CONFIRM INTER-L command within 14 days, you will be automatically removed from the list. If this happens and you did not want to end your subscription, simply resubscribe by doing the following:

Send an e-mail message to: LISTSERV@VTVM1.CC.VT.EDU
Leave the subject line blank In the body of the message, write: SUBSCRIBE INTER-L FirstName LastName, Your Institution
