ATHENS Conference

Letter from Peggy Pusch, President of NAFSA: Association of International Educators

Dear Colleagues and Friends:

This Fifth European Educational Advising Conference holds great promise for an exciting exploration of new technologies and their application to international educational exchange. It is especially exciting that so many people from the United States are a ble to participate and, in fact, have been assisted in doing so by the generous offer of the conference organizers in Europe and by their own regions and institutions in the United States. Several participants have told me of their excitement about parti cipating in this conference and having the opportunity to meet again with those who have attended NAFSA regional and national conferences.

I have asked that a questionnaire be circulated asking for as much information as you would like to provide about how NAFSA can be more appropriately responsive and inclusive of its members outside the U.S. I hope you will be candid in sharing your ideas and concerns because it is in this phase of our restructuring that special attention will be given to NAFSA's special constituencies. Although I cannot promise that we will adopt every idea or be able to respond to every concern, I can promise that your t houghts will be attended to with great seriousness and that your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Your important contributions to international educational exchange at so many levels will certainly be demonstrated and shared during the next few days. This is a very rich opportunity for everyone involved. I send my best wishes for a successful time of learning and building relationships in the shadow of the Acropolis and my sincere regrets for being unable to join you.

With very warm regards,

Peggy Pusch
President, NAFSA
