MULLIGAN : The Hanoi commitment (fülszöveg)

I pulled the face curtain.Time stopped. The seat lifted gracefully. I entered the violent wind stream spinning and flailing, like a rag doll tossed in the middle of a tornado. Slung into unconsciousness by the instant opening of the chute, I hung limp and floated death-like towards the ground below.

I began the day with a prayer of Thanksgiving for the Lord's protection I had received. From this day onward my daily ritual would be permeated with prayer, from crisis to crisis, from wake-up reveille until turn-in taps. I had my senses now, so I placed myself squarely in the hands of the Lord.

I looked at the scars on my wrists from the ropes and the gasoline. I thought of the torture, the beatings, the starvation and loneliness. The utter misery of 42 months in solitary confinement. I thought of them all but mostly I thought about the countless others who wouldn't return.
